January 2017- Monthly Update
We have had a good start to 2017 with a lot of interest being sparked in the campaign. Click here for an Easy read version.
Carrying on from the end of 2016 the campaign has continued to receive increased media interest, and our local campaigners continue to do an amazing job at spreading awareness of the campaign.
With all the recent media interest, there has been an increase in the number of people contacting Changing Places looking for ways to get involved. From indvidiuals contacting us about starting their own local campaign, to those looking to spread the message by blogging in support of the campaign.
As always, we continue to work with our campaign sponsors Aveso to provide information and support for new and existing campaigners across the UK.
Case Studies
We have been calling out for more case studies to add to our website to highlight venues with Changing Places toilets. These case studies will act as a celebration of accessible venues and hopefully inspire other venues to consider installing. At the same time, we are also looking to get more stories from campaigners, sharing their experiences of campaigning to get toilets installed.
If you wish to share your case study with us please email: ChangingPlaces@mencap.org.uk
Tesco
Tesco have installed Changing Places in a second store this month; Tesco Extra Slough. This is a great step forward for getting accessible toilets in supermarkets, and we hope that other supermarkets can follow the lead of Tesco.
New Changing Places
There has been 11 new Toilets added to the Map this month, there are now 918 Changing Places toilets listed on the current map.
Toilets added to the map this month:
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BP
Thank you, as always, to all our campaigners for their continued support of the Changing Places campaign!
