On Tuesday 29 October, Channel 5 news ran a report about the lack of Changing Places toilets at NHS hospitals. They had done an FOI of NHS Trusts which found that two-thirds of Trusts didn't provide a Changing Places toilet. Furthermore, nearly half of those Trusts have not applied for available Government funding to install a Changing Places facility.

 

Campaigners, Lorna Fillingham and Kerry Thompson, were both interviewed as part of the news story and did a fantastic job of explaining the unacceptable realities thousands of people face when Changing Places toilets are not available. You can view the interview here. 

 

 

There is still time for hospitals to apply for funding and we strongly encourage all Trusts to do so. This funding is being made available by the Department for Health and Social Care, which is inviting applications from hospitals in England for a share of £2 million.
